First Lady Grows Vegetables
There was a significant event occuring at the White House last Friday. The first lady and a group of schoolchildren dug the ground to start on the first vegetable garden at the White House in many, many years and set an example for us all.
We have all become more interested in the quality and freshness of our food in recent years and organic food has become more popular even though it invariably costs more than factory farmed food. You can't get healthier vegetables than the ones you grow yourself and can pick and prepare within minutes and you can grow organic vegetables and save a packet.
With the credit crisis hitting families all across the country there could hardly be a better time to encourage people to grow some of their own food. The First Lady has set a fine example and many of us might join her in this new move back to some of the ways of our fathers.
